Welcome!

Hi there!  I decided to start a new blog and start a new venture.  In the last couple of years I guess you could say I matured into finally knowing what I wanted to do with my life.  I've always loved animals, vintage things, and flowers.  I didn't know until now how important these things were in my overall sense of well-being.  I need my family, a home where I feel comfortable, pets, and to create. 

In the last year, I've realized that all of those things help alleviate stress:  family gatherings, having a dog sit on my lap, and to make things/crafts.  The mere act of sitting at my craft table and creating something relaxes me.  So what does this mean?  It means that in middle age, I've finally learned who I am.

 I hope this blog is an expression of that.  Doxie Cottage, let me explain:  About 7 years ago I became a foster mom for a dachshund rescue group.  We had one dachshund and realized through him, how special this breed was.  By fostering, I've learned so much from my fosters and ended up adopted 5 of them!  Hence, Doxie Cottage.

Through this experience, I found my four-legged soul mate: Miss Fergie Lee.  Sadly, I lost her last July.  She has truly changed my life through her unconditional love so this blog is in her memory.  Her picture is the header for this blog.  Stay tuned, I will tell her story in a future post.
